This is another item I bought at the recommendation of Mrs. Organized. Before Big Picky was born, this sounded like a wonderful idea. Babies are leaky creatures, crib sheets are a pain to change, so this would make my life easier. Since it would make my life easier, I’d buy 2. And then I realized my baby was less leaky than most. She spit up once after eating…ever. It happened to be during the 2006 National Championship game, so I theorize that the Buckeye’s performance just made her sick to her stomach. I wanted to puke too. So these 2 Ultimate Crib Sheets sat in the drawer…and sat…and sat…until we got the flu when Big Picky was just over a year old. We ALL got the flu - the barfy kind. I was about 4 months pregnant, trying to care for a (now) very leaky baby and a barfy husband in between barfing myself. I cannot tell you how I fell in love with these sheets.
The Basics
The Ultimate Crib Sheet is a waterproof sheet that lies on top of your regular sheet instead of wrapping around the side of the mattress. To hold it securely in place, there are elastic strips that snap around the bars of the crib.
The Raves
Easy to Change: To change it, you simply unsnap the bands and snap a new one on. This can be accomplished in about ¼ of the time it takes to wrestle a regular sheet onto the mattress. And, even better yet, this can be accomplished with one hand. Ok, it’s not the easiest thing to do one handed, but it can be done. Very valuable when you have an absolutely miserable baby in one arm and a puke explosion to clean up at 2 am…then 4 am… then 6 am… I was very thankful that I had 2. One was in the wash while one was on the crib. Those two nights, I wished I had 3.
Other
I have had the Ultimate crib sheet on the crib since then. As my pregnant belly grew, it became more difficult to bend over the crib. I couldn’t even imagine having to deal with changing a regular sheet. I just snap, snap, snap and I’m done (I think it’s 8 snaps, but that would just be too many “snaps” to type). This product is a must have if your wee one frequently spits up, leaks out of his or her diaper or is generally dirty.
